Trends of the Week

Natural dying will be an more popular, sustainable way to buy clothing. Colors will become more muted and earth-tone based, additional emphasis on the pale yellow shade. This epidemic has changed people’s perspective by forcing society to comprehend what essentials are ideally defined by. Our lives rapidly changing has effected the fashion industry in a more positive way by giving factory workers a much needed break and to reduce the amount of excessively produced fast fashion.

SLIME GREEN.
This shade of green is the ultimate, 90s throwback, shade of green you must own in your closet. These shoes are some of the trendiest looks of this S/S 20 season, iconic clear block heels, butterfly embellishments and ostrich feathers are dreamy trims.

Impactful Accessories.
During this really unsettling time in our current world, as a human race, we should stick together to uplift each other and spread positivity. In 2021, we can expect to see a flourishment in the development of garments that implement a positive message to elevate spirits.

JUICY COUTURE HANDBAGS
This iconic Y2K brand is making a comeback and it’s not just for the iconic jumpsuit. Shoulder bags are coming back as well, so why not go back to your early 2000s dream brand.
3/16/20
TIE FRONT TOPS
This mesh top is a dream. Mesh is one textile that has recently made a comeback and this top is perfect for summer. You have the option to wear it open or tie it if you choose. Perfectly paired with pants or can be worn over another dress or top.

GLOSSY LINED LIPS
Makeup is a unique way for any individual to express themselves. This look was created using eyeliner and topped off with lipgloss. I think doing crazy makeup aside from eyeshadow can be a true showstopper.
3/30/20
ACID WASH JEANS
Are we going back in time or what??? I get it, fashion is a cycle so naturally we have to go back to our roots. I hadn’t dyed these jeans by getting a cheap pair from Walmart and bleach dyed them in the sun. Simply just tied up a few sections and poured bleach everywhere.
4/6/20
BANDANA HEADSCARF
This particular scarf is Lilly Pulitzer and I simply styled it by wearing it to cover my ~dirty hair.~ I actually got this scarf at Target and I like when well know brand collaborate with bigger superstores to sell some products at a moderate price.
4/13//20
MONOCHROMATIC LOOK
This look is a black and white symmetrical aesthetic. I enjoy to wear these pieces together because it makes the whole look very sleek, but they are all nice combination pieces to help complement a statement garment.
4/20/20
SHILOUETTE EARRINGS
Chains are an old trend that has not gone away yet, but what better way to express your femininity then to wear a women’s body.
4/27/20
UNIQUE BAGS
This Betsey Johnson bag is perfect to complement my vibrant look. I paired it with my platform Gucci sneakers along with my black and red heart skirt. The trick to mixing patterns is to find a way to incorporate everything together. I have the red in the shoes, purse and skirt and my black bodysuit is simple and matches my skirt.
5/4/20
O RING CROP
Bringing back another 90s fav. O rings are a cute way to show a little skin but not have it be to much. This top has a middle line of rings but it is not too revealing where you can see my boobs.
5/11/20
MIX MATCHING EARRINGS
Don’t you hate when you lose one earring? Fear no more. Avant garde is the way to go. This unique look is one of kind since there is only one of each earring. They still manage to look good together since it is a set of all gold diamante earrings.
5/18/20
SLEEVED BIKINI
Show less skin this summer?? This particular bikini has a short sleeved top that counts as a cover up but can still be worn as a bikini top.
5/25/20
90S SET
I stole this set from my mom and I don’t care! The cut of the skirt is really in today because everyone loves a good, small slit. The collared neckline is really beautiful and allows the garment to be dressed up or down.
6/1/20
REPURPOSED JEWELRY
Sustainability is one trend that will never go out of style. These bracelets are made from spoons and beautiful crystal rocks. Find a way to repurpose something old and give it new life.
6/8/20
COLORFUL BERETS
Can never go wrong with a bright hat in summer. I created these earrings to bring out the purple in my hat hehe.
6/15/20
CROCHET CROPS
Bringing this baby back from Woodstock days. This crop top is crocheted and is the ultimate festival look, even though we may not be able to go to them in a minute.
6/22/20
FANNY PACKS
Are you over handbags yet?? This Gucci fanny is one of my favorite things, it is a simple and casual way to hold a little bit of things. It encourages me to bring less stuff everywhere I go.
6/29/20
MESH SOCKS & TOP
Because real clothes are overrated. This mesh ensemble included a mesh top with some mesh socks and my docs of course. Mixing prints is good, as long as there is a commonality between them. Don’t forget that advice.
7/13/20
TIE WRAPS & GLITTER TEARS We all know Euphoria inspired a rapid mix of glitter and rhinestones in everyone’s everyday makeup. One of my favorite trends is the glitter tears.
7/20/20
TRENDY PROFESSIONAL JEWELRY
Yes, it is possible to remain professional but still trendy. I feel so much better and more productive when I actually dress the part. I enjoy to dress up for class, even if it online. One way I like to add my own flare to these business looks is to accessorize with my everyday trendy jewelry. I added a chain to my turtleneck top and complemented my black and white look with my black and pink earrings to coordinate with my pink suit jacket.
7/27/20
90S TRIPP PANTS
Because who can resist comfy pants? Before you ask, NO these are not cargo pants. These are 90s Tripp pants and are a super comfortable way to also keep track of a lot of your stuff hehe. I added a chain to these pants to give them a more girly look.
8/3/20
WAIST CHAIN
My fav summertime accessory. I purchased this chakra waist chain and necklace to help my body feel perfectly aligned whenever I do yoga. This trend is perfect to be dressed up or down. I like to wear my chain with yoga pants but you can also wear it over a dress or skirt. You pick…
8/10/20
VINTAGE RACE CAR JACKET
This is a ridiculous find. Race car jackets are really unique because they are very detailed and always have a ton of different brands on them that sponsor that particular person. It is rare to find one in such a good condition but you can look on eBay or any other second hand shopping app.
8/17/20
SHEER TOP
Add something else to that basic turtleneck. This top is created using tulle and a pattern made from that turtleneck underneath. I love to layer chains on top of my turtlenecks. In case you didn’t know, my favorite word is layer.
8/24/20
YOUNG PROFRESH
Revitalize your basic business wear and add some trendy accessories to always look young and proFRESH. I added in a headscarf that combines all the colors of my look to make everything work. Even though it is a floral scarf, it is a far enough distance from my plaid pants to still work,
8/31/20
BIKER HATS
This particular biker hat is made out of leather and it is perfect for your bad hair days, aka for me the days where I don’t wash my hair.
9/7/20
LONG SKIRTS & BOOTS
Cold weather hack is to wear a long flower skirt with some knee-high boots so you don’t have to wear pants in the cold.
9/14/20
COLOR COORDINATING WITH YOUR BFF
One not so new trend that is becoming more popular is color coordinating with your best friend. Many Instagram influencers do it and it is a great way to take super cute pictures.
9/21/20
OVERSIZED BAND TEES
Nirvana, being one of my favorite bands had to be my prime example. I actually got this top at a vintage store in Denton and it is a 2X which is definitely not my everyday size. I like to buy my t-shirts in larger sizes, so I can wear other shirts underneath and I can wear them as a dress if I want to.
9/28/20
LAYERING GARMENTS This is a perfect way to be trendy this winter. Instead of adding excessive layers of long sleeve garments, try to add different layers of multiple textures to still keep you warm.
10/5/20
EXPOSED UNDIES
Low rise jeans are a popular trend that is coming back in style, so it is the perfect time to get a belly button piercing for summer. However, one way to show a little bit more and be expressive to expose a peek of your underwear. These are actually some Tommy Hilfiger shorts that I’m wearing, but you still get the branding idea.
10/12/20
FEATHER NECKLINE
Feathers are an increasingly popular trend, but one way to be subtle about them is to just add a quick trim to your neckline or wrists of your long sleeve top.
10/19/20
TOP OVER DRESS
One way to revive a past outfit that many people have seen before is to make it a new look by adding an additional garment that people have not seen together. I paired this cropped tie top on top of this black velvet mini dress.
10/26/20
COMBINING GARMENTS In this particular outfit, I paired a dress with a sheer button up top. The top gave the dress more volume and since the garment was sheer, I did not have to wear an addition top underneath it.
11/2/20
EVERYDAY LINGERIE I am a single woman and have been for the past 4 years now, I still buy lingerie but honestly it is for no one but myself. I buy from SavageX which is Rhianna’s brand. Her garments are so beautiful that I don’t just want to hide them under my clothes. I have these thigh high black stockings I wear with dresses or a skirt, along with this black corset that I like to pair with jeans as well. Confidence is key and if you are owning what you’re wearing then no will judge you.
11/9/20
BODY GLITTER
As we all know, rhinestones have been a huge trend in makeup mainly after Euphoria came out and inspired so many people to be more expressive with their makeup. I get that I am dressed as a fairy, however body glitter for everyday use can be a way to liven up your looks and make your stand out in a crowd.
11/16/20
SUEDE CAPES This particular cape, I got it at at Buffalo Exchange and New York, I absolutely couldn’t pass on it since it reminded me so much of my idol Stevie Nicks. The style of this garment is perfect for the summer and can be thrown on with any outfit or useful in the winter to keep you warm with an additional top. The outside is suede, but the inside is lined with a cool silk fabric so it is not too hot.
11/23/20
MIXING TEXTILES
Aside from mixing my patterns another great way to switch up any basic fits, is to find a way to incorporate a mixture of textiles. Here I mixed my vegan leather pants with a flower silk top, along with my cotton embroidered cape. I couldn’t forget to accessorize with my Jeffrey Campbell suede boots and my Yves Saint Laurent leather handbag. The trick to mixing textiles to ensure that it still flows together, my bag and pants complement one another and my boots and pale yellow silk top coordinate with my Stevie Nicks inspired cape.
11/30/20
RHINESTONE LENLESS GLASSES
One unique accessory that you don’t see everyday is the eyeless glasses. This facial accessory can add so much to your look while also not ruining any eye makeup you might be wearing at the moment.

MIXING PATTERNS & TEXTILES
One thing about my style that is consistently changing is what aesthetic I am going for that day. In the trend of this week, I wanted to show off my new SavageX corset and find a new way to incorporate lingerie in everyday outfits. The iridescent lace of the corset has a grey, blue and purple hue to the textile, so that is why I chose to tie everything in with the purple color. Other trends I wanted to pop into this look were mesh and feathers. A few weeks ago, Rhianna released her newest collection for her SavageX lingerie brand. The fashion show was displayed on Amazon and in my opinion, it remains one of the most influential fashion shows I’ve ever seen. Since Rhianna was a musician before she because a fashion designer, she has a unique eye for the overall production of her work. The reason her fashion shows are so unique is because she has a variety of stage layouts and different music with choreographed dances to display her work instead of just walking down a runway.

FASHION CYCLE IN FULL CIRCLE
This metallic vegan leather one shoulder dress would of been a perfect 80s party dress. The fashion cycle is a full circle effect that is always making old trends come back. I’m wanting to focus on the metallic textile, along with the one shoulder silhouette. This particular garment is trendy today and can be viewed as resembling garment ideals from the past.
